The five pictures below illustrate a typical weekend day for me around my area. The only difference this time is I took photos! I usually go to Dun Laoghaire and walk the East pier. After that, I muster up the courage to take a dip in Vico Baths and then I go to my favourite coffee shop in Blackrock and heat up with a hot chocolate! Of course, all within my 5km. Swimming and walking in my area is a huge aspect of my life and I hope this is conveyed through my images!
The remnants of a cherry blossom tree I snapped on the way down to Dun Laoghaire. It is rare to see the remains of this type of tree at this time of year so I was really shocked when I came across it. I knew I wanted to capture it right away. Because of its naturally bright colours I increased the focus and saturation in lightroom to model its delicate features.
The sun setting on Dun Laoghaire's East Pier. At the moment the sun sets at around 5:30pm so I knew I had to go before that to capture this photo. I was lucky that the rain and snow didn't show up and it was actually quite a mild evening. I edited the sky to be more vibrant and blue so the sunset was more evident and pleasing to the eye.
Taken after my swim in Vico baths. I like this photo a lot because the railing acts as a leading line thus bringing your eyes right down to the entry into the water. Again, I was able to catch the sun setting and this greatly added to the photo. I took this image on a different day to the East Pier image above as I wanted to capture the sunsetting in both images but wouldn't have had time to make it down to Dalkey from the pier. Again, I was lucky the sea was calm as it made for a really nice but chilling dip.
Blackrock market. I decided to take this photo because I really liked the positioning of the houses next to each other and it gave off a very community coffee shop vibe. The different colour doors made the photo very colourful and fun. I increased the contrast in this image to showcase the colourful design. I go to Blackrock market regularly and I wanted to project the homely feel of the market through my image.
This is the last photo in my story. I ended the day with a hot chocolate from Bear Cafe in Blackrock village. I choose this photo because I liked how bright everything was after the sun shower and the rainbow in the background. I increased the contrast and focus in this image to focus on the coffee cup whilst still capturing the bright colours of the rainbow.
