Introducing Jessica Viola
This is Jessica Viola. Jess is a 22-year-old student living in Foxrock, Co.Dublin. She is currently undertaking a masters degree studying journalism in TUDublin following her undergraduate degree in English with film acquired from UCD. Jess is currently online for all her classes due to the pandemic which adds another level of dedication and perseverance to her degree. This headshot is for the purpose of Jess' Linkedin and WordPress blog.
This image depicts Jess working on an assignment. During the pandemic, Jess finds herself in her home office most days with her laptop, editions of previous magazines she's worked on and her notepad for planning out her upcoming tasks. This photo is typical of many students right now. The sticky pads of endless to-do lists, a hundred pens and books and books you still haven't gotten around to reading. In the background of the photo you can see Jessica's UCD graduation certificaticate - a proud moment for her. It shows how many families have had to adapt their working space since the birth of COVID-19 and how this unused home office full of family photographs is now the most used room in the house.
This photo gives us a little insight into Jess' life. When Jess was 16 she moved to Ireland with her family from New Jersey, USA. She has been in Foxrock for the last six years however her house still includes many sediments from her life in the states e.g. this American Flag displayed in her office.
"Although I now consider Ireland my home, I lived in New Jersey for 16 years of my life and grew up there so it's important that I have things that remind me of my family and friends in America in our Irish home."
