Week four: Break-out rooms and blog posts. February photos included.

Writer's picture: Jane ByrneJane Byrne

This week, we again started out by recapping the camera settings we had gone over and learnt about in the previous weeks. We discussed aperture, focal length, IOS and shutter speed. We talked about the importance of each of these and what they add to a photo. We looked at images that incorporated and showed good knowledge of these camera skills and discussed what we liked and didn't like about them as a class,

Next, we were split into breakout rooms. In my breakout room was Katie, Julia, Gavin and Jack. We discussed our five shot story that was due that week and how we found taking and editing the images. We also discussed each other's blogs and expressed any issues or problems we were having with them. I found this helpful because even though I am using Wix some people are using WordPress and it was interesting to get feedback and advice from both sites. Conor then joined us in the breakout room to talk about our assignments and offer us feedback. I enjoyed this because it was quite personal and I could ask any questions I had.

Once we were back in the main zoom meeting we went over ways in which we can improve our blogs. These included cleaning up our sites and including better organised drop down menus. Conor then showed us how to take out unnecessary information such as social media links and other things we may not need. After I did this, I felt as though I had more control over my site and it looked more professionally.

The class ended with Conor asking us to take some photos during the week and bring them ready to show over zoom for the following class and to pick two photographs from a news story we found interesting that caught our eye during the week to discuss.

Below are some of the images I have taken over the last month and edited using lightroom classic.
